Child Abuse

Child abuse may happen in various forms, going beyond physical violence.

All types of child abuse and neglect leave lasting scars. These scars may be both physical and emotional. Emotional scarring has long lasting effects throughout the child’s life, damaging a child’s sense of self, ability to have healthy relationships, and ability to function at home, at work and at school.

Child abuse may be any of the following types, all tied together by the emotional effect on the child:

  • Emotional child abuse
  • Child neglect
  • Physical child abuse
  • Child sexual abuse

Please see our VICTIMS OF ABUSE page on information about how to make a claim in cases of abuse.
